A free fishing event for children ages 3 to 11! Enjoy a weekend of fun in the sun with the kids--the biggest catches get the biggest prizes, worth up to $20,000. Friday, July 31, is pre-registration and kids get free bait, hooks, sinkers, a fishing pole, and a free T-shirt and hat. At the derby, August 1st, registered children can catch up to five fish apiece to take home. The weekend is jam-packed with fun activities including a zip line, selfie station, 40-foot obstacle course, inflatables, educational programs, and more. Make memories and new friends--you don't want to miss it! 

A visit to Cherokee's 40th Annual Powwow is like coming home. Thousands attend the annual powwow to enjoy the excitement and tradition featuring spectacular dance performances, traditional arts and crafts, live music, special events, tribal foods, amazing fireworks, and more. World championship dancers compete in full regalia for a chance to win over $60,000 in prize money. See for yourself why this event is described as a "parade of color."

Don't miss the 18th annual Cherokee Voices Festival on the grounds of the Museum of the Cherokee Indian on Saturday, June 13th, from 10 to 5 pm. Visitors can see more than 25 demonstrations of traditional Cherokee arts and crafts throughout the day, in addition to continuous performances of dance, storytelling, and music. Admission is free and made possible by sponsorship from the NC Arts Council and the Museum of the Cherokee Indian.
